Chirality-2 is the expanded version of the original app, Chirality. This new version has all the levels as the original, but with added levels and features. It is the second app by Michelle Spencer. It was created for school and undergraduate level students who require extra help in learning the basics on describing molecules.
Goal:
The main goal of this app is to practice describing different molecules, whether it's naming them or telling two molecules apart. There are six levels: functional groups, structure classification, intermolecular forces, isomers, chiral centres and naming molecules.
Experience:
We found this app to be very useful if you're unsure about your basic knowledge in describing molecules. Unfortunately, the app doesn't give an introduction on how to play, or give any descriptions of each level or molecule. I feel this would add on to the overall experience since it is currently very limited to students who have already learned about each classification. Chirality-2 allows the user to see what the corrects answers are after answers are submitted, but again do not say why the user is wrong and why the correct answer would be correct. It is also quite repetitive but this can be useful for memorisation.
Graphics:
The app is quite simple in how things look and work but have been made attractive by using a neon style throughout. Although everything works well, we found that when we dragged functional group names to their allocated location, the app wouldn't accept the location we put it in. This meant we had to drag each functional group name several times to answer the question.
Price:
The app is completely free!
